I Love You Because...

They say that you are almighty, I know you only as all love. They ask me to stand tall in the sun splendour of your puissance, I'd rather bend low to kiss your feet. They invite me to strut in the glory of my kinship with you, I would rather remain locked in an unseen embrace. They call me to the glittering shores of fame, I choose instead to be gathered into your arms within. They say that you are the Great Mother of all creation; I feel you as an experience ultimately intimate, And I love you because…. ….Because I simply do not know how not to.    - Anahita Sanjana (India)

How to Change One’s Character

Humanity has struggled with the idea of an individual changing his character and becoming something more, or different, than what he was before. Numerous methods have been tried, and at the end of the day, almost everyone agrees that human nature and the individual character that expresses that human nature is bound and cannot be modified by any power that the human being possesses. Some have thus indicated that humanity is born in “original sin” and that this sin can only be overcome, or redeemed, through the action of a divine savior who takes on the burden of those sins and thereby liberates humanity through his redeeming death. Others have simply given up and embraced all the weaknesses, desires, and failures that are part of the human condition. Some have made excuses that indicate that certain ‘superior’ individuals can simply disregard the vital drives that lead ‘ordinary’ men into failure of character, while others try to off-load their character weaknesses onto another, in the

Puri and Puducherry – the Divine Link!

Puri and Puducherry, beautiful twin-city, The mighty Bay of Bengal being the entity. Puri towards north and Puducherry in south, Geographically on East coast of India.   Exactly similar in tonality, Last letter I replaced with Y! Puri the religious city with renowned Jagannath Temple, An astonishing  porch and the sanctum sanctorum with the Trimurti, Bustling with hundreds of people, chants filling the air! Puducherry the spiritual hub with the enticing Ashram, The samadhi of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother, under a tree-shaded courtyard, Devotees meditating in the silent ambience is indeed alluring! ‘I’  The Lord Jagannath, incarnation of Vasudeva, The life’s protector and saviour for ‘ Y ou’- Sri Aurobindo. At the Alipore Jail, this Divine Link was secured! Post liberation in the Alipore Bomb case, the acclaimed Uttrarpara speech, When Sri Aurobindo discloses Sri Krishna’s ‘Adesh’, To leave for Puducherry for the Ashram and or the work!!! The above poetic prose is an inspiration from my

“Hurry Worry Curry” (HWC) Syndrome to Spiritual Life of Sattvic Habits

Most of us as average individuals living at surface consciousness driven by  TAMASIK  and  RAJASIK  tendencies, like an amorphous mass, are largely driven by  HWC  syndrome. This all begins with liking of spicy food babits (Curry), which affects our thought process and makes us a worried lot and we feel and can be seen in a Hurry reflected by our Actions. This is largely true in working life and personal life or when we are travelling on road in dense traffic trying to overtake other vehicles or doing simultaneous tasks. This tendency invariably leads to a stressful life and health issues and there is enough evidence as seen in social media and newspapers. My experience of having food (PRASAD) in the Dining Hall during my brief stays in Sri Aurobindo ashram resonates with the impact of food we take … as food is one of the major contributing factors in formulating mind-body balance for holistic development. The Mother used to emphasize on having   Sattvik food   keeping in view nutritio

The Samadhi at Night

Into a white slab of marble a heaven descended, Giving a tangible form to the intangible godhead. Fragrant swirls of incense rise and curl and drop into its whiteness. The soothing dimness of night abounding with an unseen brightness. The heart fills up with a beauty that dances, Secure and cocooned, the being drops all armours and lances. The Beloved wafts from it, sweet winds of grace, Draping the entire being with that unforgettable embrace. So far it seems when counted the mile, So near when sought for in the being’s inner smile, The beauty, the wonder, the secret lies in this, I carry within me the perennial fount of bliss. I stay untouched by the furies of life hurled along the way, For I carry inside me this haven, just one heartbeat away. - Anahita Sanjana (India)
